Description
Kadavu is a long, mountainous island south of Viti Levu and the least developed of the larger Fijian islands, with no sealed road network and no town of any size. It is ringed by the Great Astrolabe Reef, one of the biggest barrier reefs in the world, which draws divers to its walls, its passes and its manta cleaning stations. The interior is rainforest holding four bird species found nowhere else, among them the Kadavu musk parrot. The volcanic cone of Nabukelevu rises above the villages at the western end. Accommodation is a scatter of small dive lodges reached only by boat.
