Description
Jaisalmer (जैसलमेर) is located in western Rajasthan on the edge of the Thar Desert near the Pakistani border and is known as the “Golden City”. The former caravan town is renowned for its magnificent Jaisalmer Fort, built from honey-colored sandstone and one of the few living forts in the world that is still inhabited. Ornate havelis with intricately carved façades, winding lanes, and beautifully decorated Jain temples reflect the city's prosperity along the historic trade routes. Camel safaris to the sand dunes of Sam and Khuri, atmospheric desert camps, and spectacular sunsets offer an unforgettable experience of the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is considered one of Rajasthan's most captivating destinations and the gateway to the unique desert landscapes of western India.
