Description
Ifrane (إفران) is a picturesque mountain town in the Middle Atlas and one of Morocco’s most distinctive destinations. Situated at an elevation of around 1,650 metres, it is known for its architecture dating back to the French Protectorate, with steep-roofed chalets, manicured green spaces, and a surprisingly Alpine appearance. The surrounding region features extensive cedar forests inhabited by wild Barbary macaques, as well as lakes and scenic mountain landscapes. In winter, snowfall transforms the area into a winter sports destination, with nearby Michlifen offering skiing when conditions allow. Morocco’s Alpine surprise combines nature, relaxation, and a mountain-town atmosphere unlike anywhere else in North Africa.
