Description

Volubilis (وليلي) is one of Morocco’s most important and best-preserved ancient archaeological sites and an impressive testament to North Africa’s Roman past. Once a prosperous city, it was an important center of the province of Mauretania Tingitana and is now renowned for its exceptionally well-preserved floor mosaics, the Arch of Caracalla, and the remains of monumental temples and residences. Set amid a fertile landscape of fields and rolling hills, the ancient ruins blend with the sweeping scenery of the Zerhoun Massif to create a remarkable setting. The nearby town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun and the site’s millennia of history make Volubilis one of Morocco’s most fascinating historical landmarks.
