Description

El Jadida (الجديدة) is a historic port city on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, known for its distinctive Portuguese heritage. Once known as Mazagan, the trading post was fortified by the Portuguese in the 16th century and still impresses with its massive walls, bastions, and historic buildings. The Portuguese City of Mazagan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to the atmospheric Portuguese Cistern, one of El Jadida’s most remarkable landmarks. The city blends European fortress architecture with Moroccan culture, a lively medina, and the relaxed atmosphere of an Atlantic coastal city.
