Dachstein, Austria

Dachstein

Austria · Upper Austria / Styria · 2700 m

Description

The Dachstein Massif is one of the most impressive mountain landscapes of the Northern Limestone Alps, rising above Hallstatt and the lake district of the Salzkammergut. The region is known for its striking limestone formations, the Dachstein Giant Ice Cave, the Mammoth Cave and the famous Dachstein Skywalk at around 2,700 metres above sea level, offering spectacular Alpine views. Cable cars, hiking trails and via ferratas provide access to this high-alpine world, whose glaciers, rugged cliffs and underground landscapes make it one of Austria’s most remarkable natural and outdoor destinations.
