Chanthaburi (จันทบุรี) is a historic city in eastern Thailand and an important center of the gemstone trade. Rubies and sapphires are particularly associated with the city, where gemstones are traded, cut, and processed. The historic Chanthaboon Waterfront Community features old houses and shophouses shaped by Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and European influences. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception reflects the long history of Chanthaburi’s Catholic community. The surrounding countryside offers lush landscapes, waterfalls, and national parks to explore. Khao Khitchakut is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site and attracts numerous devotees, especially during the traditional pilgrimage season.
