Banfora, Burkina Faso

Banfora

Burkina Faso · Cascades · 300 m

Description

Banfora sits in the greenest corner of Burkina Faso, in sugarcane country below a low escarpment, and is the base for the natural sights of the south west. The Karfiguéla waterfalls drop in a series of wide steps through gallery forest, and the domes of Fabédougou nearby are eroded limestone mounds stacked like beehives. Lake Tengréla holds a resident group of hippos that a pirogue can approach in the dry season, along with kingfishers and herons. The Sindou Peaks and their rock spires stand an hour to the west.
