Description
Azrou (أزرو) is a lively Amazigh-influenced town in the Middle Atlas, surrounded by extensive forests of majestic Atlas cedars. The town is best known for the wild Barbary macaques that inhabit the surrounding cedar forests, its traditional weekly market, and its regional handicrafts. Azrou combines the everyday life of a Moroccan mountain town with the unspoiled landscapes of the Middle Atlas and makes an excellent base for exploring the surrounding forests. Its down-to-earth character offers an appealing contrast to nearby Ifrane, with its manicured streets and distinctly Alpine appearance.
