Description
Amphawa (อัมพวา) is a historic town in Samut Songkhram Province, southwest of Bangkok, best known for its atmospheric floating market along Khlong Amphawa. At weekends, vendors sell grilled seafood, noodles, sweets, and drinks from boats, while traditional wooden houses and shops line the canal. After dark, boat trips take visitors to see fireflies glowing among the trees along the waterways. Nearby, Wat Bang Kung is famed for its historic ordination hall enclosed by the roots of ancient trees, while the King Rama II Memorial Park features traditional Thai houses, gardens, and a museum. At Don Hoi Lot, visitors can explore a tidal sandbank known for its abundant shellfish.
