Description
Ziarat is a hill town at two and a half thousand metres in the Balochistan mountains, ringed by the second largest juniper forest in the world, and some of those trees have been standing for five thousand years. The British made it their summer station for Quetta and built the wooden Residency where Jinnah spent the last weeks of his life. Militants burned that building down and it was rebuilt to the original drawings. Prospect Point looks out over the valley from the ridge. Apples and cherries grow on the terraces below the junipers. Quetta and its airport lie a hundred and twenty kilometres away down the mountain road.
