Waterloo

Waterloo is the gateway to the landscape where Napoleon's final campaign ended on 18 June 1815. The central memorial area lies mainly around the Lion's Mound in neighbouring Braine-l'Alleud, with an underground museum, the panorama and broad views across the fields that shaped the battle.

The story extends beyond one monument. Hougoumont farm, Wellington's former headquarters in Waterloo and Napoleon's last headquarters at the Ferme du Caillou place the decisions and experiences of soldiers and civilians in context.
