Smögen, Sweden

Smögen

Sweden · Bohuslän · 10 m

Description

Smögen is a fishing island turned summer town, and everything happens on one wooden boardwalk six hundred metres long with boathouses on one side and moored yachts on the other. The fish auction still runs on weekday mornings and still sets prices for the whole coast. The granite here is pink and rounded and goes straight into the water with no beach in between, so people swim off the rock. In July the population multiplies several times over and in November there is almost nobody left on the boardwalk at all, which is the deal everywhere on this coast.
