Saly, Senegal

Saly

Senegal · Thiès · 10 m

Description

Saly is the centre of Senegalese beach tourism, a strip of hotels, villas and restaurants on the Petite Côte south of Dakar where the Atlantic is warm and the dry season runs half the year. It grew from a fishing village into the country's largest resort and now supplies most of its hotel beds. Pirogues still land their catch on the same sand the sunloungers stand on. Golf, quad tours, deep sea fishing and the reserves inland fill the days, and the lagoon at Somone and the shell island of Joal-Fadiouth are both a short drive away.
