Description
Remedios is one of Cuba’s oldest colonial towns and a charming blend of history, tradition, and authentic small-town life. The town is known for its picturesque Plaza Mayor, lined with colorful colonial façades and two historic churches, as well as the horse-drawn carriages that remain part of the streetscape. Remedios is especially famous as the birthplace of Las Parrandas, a traditional festival featuring elaborate floats, spectacular light displays, music, and fireworks, a tradition recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Combining colonial heritage with vibrant Cuban culture, Remedios is one of the most rewarding historic destinations on Cuba’s northern coast.
