Description
Rangiroa is French Polynesia’s largest atoll and one of the largest in the world. Its vast coral ring surrounds a lagoon roughly the size of the island of Tahiti and is dotted with numerous small motu. Rangiroa is especially renowned for its exceptional marine life and the Tiputa Pass, where strong currents create exhilarating drift dives with encounters with grey reef sharks, dolphins, rays, and abundant reef fish. Quieter areas such as the Aquarium offer rewarding snorkeling opportunities. Another unique feature is French Polynesia’s only commercial vineyard, where vines grow in the atoll’s coral-rich soil and produce distinctive white and rosé wines.
