Description
Örebro has a castle on an island in the middle of its river and a town built around it, which is a tidy arrangement and photographs well from every bridge. The castle is four square towers and a courtyard, begun in the thirteenth century to guard the crossing where the road east met the water. Wadköping next to it is a street of wooden houses moved here from the old town before it was demolished, which is honest about being a rescue rather than a survival. The water tower on the ridge is shaped like a mushroom.
