Description
Nxai Pan is a striking national park in northern Botswana and part of the vast Makgadikgadi Pans landscape. Its fossil pans, open grasslands and distinctive tree islands create an exceptional setting that attracts large herds of zebra and wildebeest during their seasonal movements. The park is especially known for the Baines’ Baobabs, a group of ancient baobab trees painted by explorer and artist Thomas Baines in 1862. Lions, cheetahs and other predators follow the abundant herbivores across the plains. Nxai Pan combines rewarding wildlife encounters with a distinctive, largely untouched landscape and fits naturally into a northern Botswana safari linking Maun, the Makgadikgadi Pans and the Chobe region.
