Short description of Nampo

Nampo (남포) is the port of Pyongyang, an industrial city at the mouth of the Taedong River on the Yellow Sea. Its landmark is the West Sea Barrage, an eight kilometre dam of locks and road across the estuary that is presented to visitors as a feat of national engineering. Inland lie the Kangso Three Tombs, painted Koguryo burial chambers listed by UNESCO, and the model village of Chongsan-ri, a standard stop on group itineraries. A hot spring resort outside town pipes seawater into private baths. Most travellers see Nampo as a half day excursion from the capital.
