Description
Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary is Eswatini’s oldest protected area and lies in the heart of the scenic Ezulwini Valley. Established in 1961, the sanctuary combines open grasslands, riverine habitats, woodland and mountain landscapes, supporting a diverse range of wildlife. Zebras, wildebeest, warthogs, impalas, kudus and nyala are commonly seen, while hippos and crocodiles inhabit its waterways. The distinctive Nyonyane Mountain, also known as Execution Rock, rises above the valley and offers panoramic views across the surrounding landscape. Hiking trails, mountain biking, horseback riding and game drives provide varied ways to explore the sanctuary. Its central location makes Mlilwane an easy addition to visits to Mantenga Falls, Mantenga Cultural Village and Ngwenya Glass.
