Description
Malbork is a monumental brick castle on the Nogat River and one of the finest examples of medieval architecture created by the Teutonic Order. Founded in the 13th century and expanded in the 14th century as the residence of the Grand Master, the fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered the world’s largest brick castle. Its vast complex of High Castle, Middle Castle and Outer Bailey features imposing walls, towers, moats and magnificent Gothic interiors, including the Grand Master’s Palace and Great Refectory. The castle museum houses important collections of art, arms, armor and a renowned collection of amber. Malbork ranks among Central Europe’s most impressive medieval fortresses.
