Labadee, Haiti

Labadee

Haiti · Nord · 5 m

Description

Labadee is a peninsula on the north coast leased by a cruise line and fenced off from the country around it, so the beaches, the bars and the pier belong to whichever ship is alongside. Green hills drop straight to the water and the coves between them are calm and shallow. A zip line runs eight hundred metres from the hillside out over the bay, and an alpine coaster winds down through the trees. Haitian traders sell carvings in a market inside the fence. Nobody arrives here except by ship. Royal Caribbean has suspended its calls here since April 2025, so the pier now stands empty.
