Grand Case, Saint-Martin

Grand Case

Saint-Martin · Saint-Martin · 5 m

Description

Grand Case is a single street of restaurants along a beach and is the reason Saint-Martin calls itself the gastronomic capital of the Caribbean. Two dozen kitchens work the strip, from white-tablecloth French rooms to the lolos, open-sided barbecue shacks at the north end that grill ribs and crayfish over wood. The bay in front is calm and shallow with good snorkelling at either headland. Tuesday evenings in season the street closes to traffic for a market of stalls and live bands. The village has its own small airstrip behind the beach, and the capital is ten minutes south.
