Ericeira is a historic fishing town on Portugal's Atlantic coast, about 35 km northwest of Lisbon, and Europe's first World Surfing Reserve. Its whitewashed old town, centered on the lively Praça da República, sits above a rugged coastline of cliffs and coves. Along roughly 8 km of shoreline, world-class breaks such as Ribeira d'Ilhas and Coxos have made Ericeira a global pilgrimage site for surfers, while the small working harbour still lands fresh fish and lobster each morning.
