Efteling is the largest and oldest theme park in the Netherlands, offering a unique blend of fairy tales, nature, and imaginative design. Opened in 1952, the Fairytale Forest remains the heart of the park, bringing classic European stories to life through moving figures and richly detailed settings. The nostalgic visual style pioneered by Anton Pieck is combined with modern attractions such as the wooden roller coaster Joris en de Draak and the dark ride Symbolica. Unlike many international theme parks, Efteling relies less on licensed brands and more on its own distinctive world of fairy tales, legends, and folklore. On-site hotels and holiday accommodations also make it well suited to longer stays.
