Short description of Chinko Nature Reserve
Chinko covers a stretch of country where Congolian rainforest gives out into Sudanian savanna, which is what makes its wildlife list so unusually long. African Parks took on the management and built a ranger force large enough to push the armed poaching networks back out of a core zone. There is deliberately almost nothing here for visitors, a handful of beds on the river and a strict cap on numbers. Getting in means a charter flight arranged well ahead through the park itself. Visitor numbers run in the dozens a year rather than the thousands.
