Chimgan, Uzbekistan

Chimgan

Uzbekistan · Tashkent Region · 1600 m

Description

Chimgan is the mountain edge of the Tashkent region, a group of ski slopes and summer walking country in the western Tian Shan an hour and a half from the capital. The chairlift up Beldersay runs in both seasons and the view from the top takes in the reservoir at Charvak, which turns an improbable turquoise in summer and is where the city goes to swim. Snow lies from December into March and the newer resort at Amirsoy runs lifts through it. Out of season the slopes are pasture, the villages sell honey and walnuts, and the gorge pools below fill with day trippers.
