Description

Camagüey is one of Cuba’s oldest cities and a fascinating center of colonial history, art, and Cuban culture. Its UNESCO-listed historic center is known for its unusual maze of winding streets, irregular blocks, and hidden squares, as well as its colorful architecture and numerous historic churches. Characteristic of the city are the large clay jars known as “tinajones”, traditionally used to collect rainwater, and Plaza del Carmen with its lifelike bronze sculptures. Camagüey combines its rich architectural heritage with a vibrant arts and cultural scene and is considered one of Cuba’s most captivating historic cities.
