Description

Bishkek (Бишкек) is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan, a green urban center where Soviet-era architecture, Kyrgyz history and the dramatic landscapes of the Tien Shan converge. The city is known for its broad, tree-lined boulevards, central Ala-Too Square, the State Historical Museum and the lively Osh Bazaar, with stalls selling spices, dried fruit, meat and clothing. Parks such as Oak Park and Panfilov Park add to its spacious character, while numerous Soviet modernist buildings remain part of the cityscape. South of Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range rises toward the mountains, with Ala-Archa National Park providing easy access to spectacular alpine scenery.
