Description
Abisko is a small village in Swedish Lapland and one of Europe’s best-known destinations for viewing the Northern Lights. Located in the rain shadow of the Scandinavian Mountains, it benefits from an unusually dry and often clear microclimate known as the “Blue Hole”. Abisko lies on the edge of Abisko National Park, established in 1909 as one of Sweden’s first national parks, and serves as the northern starting point of the famous Kungsleden trail. The Aurora Sky Station on Mount Nuolja offers spectacular views across the subarctic landscape. In summer, the midnight sun brings weeks of endless daylight, while dark winter skies provide ideal conditions for the Northern Lights and stargazing.
