Travel to the Cocos Islands
The Cocos Islands are a remote Australian territory in the Indian Ocean, two coral atolls with only two inhabited islands and around six hundred residents. Home Island is home to the Cocos Malay community, while West Island holds the airport and most visitor accommodation.
The turquoise lagoon of the southern atoll offers snorkelling, kitesurfing and paddling, and Cossies Beach on Direction Island has been named the best beach in Australia. North Keeling, a separate atoll, is protected as Pulu Keeling National Park, home to seabirds and the endemic Cocos buff banded rail.
