Zhangjiajie (张家界) is located in the mountainous province of Hunan and is home to one of China's most spectacular natural landscapes. The region is renowned for its more than 3,000 towering quartz-sandstone pillars, widely believed to have inspired the floating mountains of Pandora in the film Avatar. At its heart lies the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area, celebrated for its dramatic rock formations, deep ravines, dense forests, and panoramic viewpoints.
