Description

Xi'an (西安市) is one of China's oldest cities and is widely regarded as one of the cradles of Chinese civilization. The former imperial capital served numerous dynasties for more than a millennium and marked the eastern starting point of the historic Silk Road. Xi'an is best known for the world-famous Terracotta Army of China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang. The city's remarkably preserved Ming-era City Wall, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, the lively Muslim Quarter with its renowned street food, and its outstanding museums and temples are among its many highlights. Blending an extraordinary imperial heritage with the energy of a modern metropolis, Xi'an ranks among China's most important cultural and travel destinations.
