Xi'an (西安市) is one of China's oldest cities and is widely regarded as one of the cradles of Chinese civilization. The former imperial capital served numerous dynasties for more than a millennium and marked the eastern starting point of the historic Silk Road. Xi'an is best known for the world-famous Terracotta Army of China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
