Description
Huangshan (黄山), the Yellow Mountains, is one of China's most famous mountain landscapes and is regarded as the embodiment of the country's classical mountain scenery. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its dramatic granite peaks, ancient pine trees, unusual rock formations, and spectacular seas of clouds, which have inspired poets, painters, and travelers for more than a thousand years. Three summits, Lotus Peak, Bright Summit, and Celestial Capital Peak, rise above 1,800 meters. They are accessible via an extensive network of historic stone stairways carved into the mountainside, as well as modern cable cars. At the foot of the mountains, the UNESCO World Heritage villages of Hongcun and Xidi, with their traditional Huizhou architecture, add a rich cultural dimension to the natural landscape. Huangshan is considered one of China's most breathtaking landscapes and ranks among the country's most iconic natural attractions.
