Yanbu, Saudi Arabia

Yanbu

Saudi Arabia · Al-Madinah · 10 m

Description

Yanbu is the Red Sea port of Medina and one of the best diving bases in Saudi Arabia, with reefs called the Seven Sisters and a wrecked iron ship lying in shallow water close to shore. The old quarter of Yanbu Al-Bahr has been restored around coral-stone merchant houses, one of which T. E. Lawrence used during the Arab Revolt. Away from the water the town is dominated by an industrial city of refineries, but the corniche, the lake park and a flower festival each spring keep it a weekend destination for Medina and Jeddah.
