Windwardside, Saba

Windwardside

Saba Β· Saba Β· 400 m

Description

Windwardside sits at four hundred metres on the flank of Saba's volcano and is the island's main village for visitors. White cottages with red roofs and green shutters stand in tight gardens along lanes too steep and narrow for through traffic. The trail to Mount Scenery starts here and climbs more than a thousand stone steps through cloud forest to the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Dive operators, the small museum in a sea captain's cottage and the botanical garden all sit within a few minutes on foot. Saba has no resorts and almost no beach, and the village reflects that.
