Description
Þórsmörk is a spectacular valley in Iceland’s southern Highlands, nestled between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull. The remote landscape is characterized by dense birch forests, deep gorges, moss-covered slopes and sweeping panoramic views. Þórsmörk is one of Iceland’s most important hiking areas and marks the southern end of the famous Laugavegur trail, which runs from Landmannalaugar through the country’s diverse Highland landscapes. The Fimmvörðuháls trail also connects Þórsmörk with Skógar. Accessible via Highland tracks with river crossings, the region combines pristine nature with some of Iceland’s most spectacular hiking experiences.
