Short description of Tadjoura
Tadjoura sits on the north shore of the gulf and calls itself the white city for the lime wash on its houses and the seven mosques among them. It is one of the oldest towns on this coast and was a slaving port long before the French arrived. A ferry crosses from the capital four times a week and takes about two hours, which is the pleasant way to come. Behind the town the Goda mountains rise to the juniper relict of the Day forest, cool and utterly unlike the coast. The beach west of town is the best on this shore.
