Short description of Dikhil
Dikhil is the last real town on the way to Lac Abbé and most people who stop here are staging for that drive or breaking it on the way back. It sits above the Gobaad plain where Afar and Somali grazing country meets, and its market reflects both. The engraved panels at Abourma in the hills to the north are among the richest rock art in the Horn, though reaching them costs a hard drive and a walk. Otherwise the draw is the emptiness itself, the Bara plains running flat to the horizon on either side of the road.
