Short description of Moucha Island
Moucha lies about forty minutes out from the capital by boat, a flat coral island with white beaches and a mangrove fringe that the city treats as its weekend water. The reefs around it are the easiest good snorkelling in the country and the drop-offs on the seaward side are dived all cool season. Maskali, the smaller island beside it, is always part of the same outing. There is no scheduled boat and no reliable accommodation, so almost everyone comes for the day on a chartered launch. The season closes when the summer wind makes the crossing rough.
