St. George’s

Bermuda

Short description of St. George’s

St. George’s at the eastern end of Bermuda is the oldest continuously inhabited English town in the Americas and, with its forts, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its lanes of whitewashed and pastel houses run up from King's Square, where a replica ducking stool and stocks stand beside the harbour and a replica of the Deliverance recalls the shipwrecked settlers who built it. St. Peter's Church has been in use since the town began. The Unfinished Church stands roofless above it. Fort St. Catherine guards the northern point, and Tobacco Bay below it is a sheltered beach for snorkelling among the rocks.
