Short description of Royal Naval Dockyard

The Royal Naval Dockyard at the western tip of Bermuda was the Royal Navy's main base in the western Atlantic, built of Bermuda limestone by convicts and enslaved labourers behind massive fortress walls. It is now where the cruise ships dock and where most visitors first set foot on the island. The National Museum of Bermuda fills the Keep and the Commissioner's House above it. The old stores and the Cooperage hold a craft market, glassworks, a pub and the clocktower mall. Snorkel Park Beach sits inside the walls, and ferries leave for Hamilton and St. George's.
