Description
Ramsey is the second town of the Isle of Man, set on a wide northern bay at the point where the mountains end and the flat plain of the north begins. A long iron pier reaches out over the sands, and the lake and gardens of Mooragh Park lie behind the promenade. The Manx Electric Railway ends here after running the length of the east coast, and the TT course swings through the town at the Ramsey Hairpin before climbing the mountain. North of the town the coast runs out over shingle and gorse to the lighthouse at the Point of Ayre. Milntown and its gardens lie in the valley behind.
