Description
Peel is the fishing town of the west coast, built of red sandstone around a harbour that faces the sunset. Peel Castle stands on St Patrick's Isle across the water, a walled enclosure holding a round tower, a ruined cathedral and the graves of Norse kings, joined to the town by a causeway. The House of Manannan tells the Celtic and Viking story of the island through reconstructed settings and a full size longship. Peel is where Manx kippers are still smoked over oak, and the beach runs the length of the town below Peel Hill and Corrin's Tower.
