Description
Pointe-Noire is the ocean city of the Republic of the Congo, built on oil and the deepwater port, and the beaches begin where the town ends. The Côte Sauvage runs south in a long line of surf that is too rough to swim but good to walk at sunset, while the calmer coves north of the city are where people go in the water. The gorge at Diosso cuts into red and ochre cliffs half an hour away, beside the small museum of the Loango kingdom. The train to Brazzaville leaves from the old CFCO station of 1934.
