Short description of Neko Harbour
Neko Harbour is an inlet of Andvord Bay on the Danco Coast and the most visited landing site in Antarctica, the place where most travellers set foot on the continent itself rather than an island. A gentoo penguin colony nests on the rocks above the beach, and a tidewater glacier across the bay calves into the water often enough that landings keep well back from the shore. A short climb up the snow slope looks over the whole bay. Danco Island and Orne Harbour nearby offer further landings, the latter with a steep climb to a chinstrap colony on the ridge.
