Short description of Cuverville Island

Cuverville Island is a dome of rock in the Errera Channel off the Danco Coast, and one of the most visited landings in Antarctica. Its beaches and slopes hold one of the largest gentoo penguin colonies on the Peninsula, several thousand pairs nesting among the moss and snow. Icebergs grounded in the channel make it a favourite place for zodiac cruising, and leopard seals patrol the shallows below the colony. Snowy sheathbills and skuas pick along the shore. The island is small enough to be seen in a single landing of a couple of hours.
