Mount Field National Park
Australia · Tasmania · 160 m
Description
Mount Field National Park is one of Tasmania’s oldest and most diverse national parks, located about an hour’s drive northwest of Hobart. The park is known for its lush temperate rainforests, the tiered Russell Falls and towering eucalyptus trees that rank among the tallest flowering plants in the world. At higher elevations, the scenery gives way to alpine plateaus, moorlands and glacial lakes, while Mount Mawson becomes a small ski area in winter. As part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, Mount Field National Park combines ancient forests, spectacular waterfalls and alpine wilderness, making it one of the island’s most varied natural destinations.
