Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park
Australia · Tasmania · 900 m
Description
Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park in the heart of Tasmania is one of Australia’s most spectacular natural landscapes and part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The national park is renowned for its rugged mountain peaks, crystal-clear lakes such as Dove Lake, ancient rainforests, and sweeping alpine scenery. An extensive network of walking trails leads through glacial valleys, across highland plains, and past waterfalls, while the famous Overland Track ranks among Australia’s most iconic long-distance walks. Wombats, wallabies, and Tasmanian devils are part of the park’s distinctive wildlife, while in autumn the native fagus transforms parts of the landscape with brilliant shades of gold and red. Cradle Mountain combines pristine wilderness, remarkable wildlife and vegetation, and some of Tasmania’s finest hiking experiences.
