The Great Ocean Road is one of Australia’s most spectacular scenic drives, stretching for around 240 kilometres from Torquay to Allansford along the wild southern coast of Victoria. The historic coastal route is renowned for its dramatic cliffs, picturesque beaches and striking rock formations, including the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and London Arch in Port Campbell National Park. In Great Otway National Park, lush rainforests, towering eucalyptus forests and waterfalls dominate the landscape, while near Torquay, Bells Beach is one of Australia’s most famous surfing destinations. Built by returned soldiers after the First World War, the road combines spectacular scenery, Australian history and charming coastal towns, making it one of the world’s great coastal journeys.
